PROJECT TYPE Residential LOCATION Auckland Central
This is a work in progress — a compact 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom inner city haven for a busy couple who spend long periods of time out of Auckland and wanted to enjoy all the urban lifestyle had to offer on their return. The brief was to solve the problem of limited storage, providing for a home office and separate hobby room for ‘the artist’ in the family, while maintaining a guest bedroom for family to come and stay. Their desire was to turn this bungalow into a fun, sumptuous, New York chic loft-style oasis. The result was the ability to create transitional spaces that could morph with the changing needs of the limited space which extended to transforming the outdoor living areas making the most of the traditional street front veranda to the rear courtyard and garden. The design centrepiece is a living room wall with hidden storage covered in decorative artistic panels crafted by the owner.
